Ave Maria

We don't have television, all 5 of us are in school and have homework and I'm not wasting the money for it and we don't need it. A LOT of families up here don't have television - we can't get anything without cable or a satellite anyway, or in my childhood without one of those enormous metal contraptions affixed to the tallest evergreen on your property - and even when the price of such devices isn't too bad, we still choose to live without it. We have the radio, and the internet, for news and we have movies and some TV series on DVD, and we get to watch WITHOUT any commercial breaks. Without rated R commercials suddenly popping up in the middle of rated G family shows. And if we need to leave or stop the movie to do something else, we can push stop or pause and it will wait for us. (This of course is the goal anyway - Mom says, "push stop, it's time for such-and-such" and calm obedient children - or Mom when she tells herself this - will happily without complaint push stop and be ready for whatever is next on the schedule including bedtime.) It's been so long since we've had television that the device which allows you to record and watch later didn't exist then.

BEAUTIFUL!!! - I'm glad this was on television, glad lots of people got to see someone using their God given talent in a way which honors Him. I cried, from the beauty of her voice which goes right passed the ears and straight to touching the soul. Cried from the realization that someone went on a show like that singing praises to the mother of Christ, and that so many people would see it and be touched by it.
